As far as food, it was one of the best things to happen to Baton Rouge.

OTH fans, what do you sorely miss?

For me it's the fresh tuna with the shrimp poboy as a close second. Also the variety of fresh whole fish.

It was a sad day when Jason closed his doors, but I don't miss trying to merge onto a 65 mph Airline HWY from a steep incline.

I guess what got me thinking about this thread was the fact that I would be shopping there right now.

Yep

And he did have a slamming shrimp poboy. Forgive me, family, should anyone read this!

Yeah, I miss the place. Went there once a week for lunch. I always enjoyed the tuna steak sandwich and of course the fresh fish

Why the downvote? I like fresh fish.

Yes, I miss the fresh fish and the poboys, there is no reliable source of fresh saltwater fish in SE-BR that I know of. Driving to Tony's is a chore and I always buy some fried stuff which is a no-no.

I still miss it too.

I tried to get an SBA disaster relocation loan but was turned down due to credit score issues. My credit score dropped when the oil spill hit and I closed down. I had a few credit cards I was late on after closing down and it doesn't take much to drop your score. Thought the disaster relocation loan would take into consideration dropped credit scores but it didn't obviously. The BP claims process is a joke also. I got paid a small portion of my spill losses in 2010 and finally just got turned down 6 years later for the rest of my losses because I did not meet their definition of a "seafood chain business". I most definitely did meet that definition. I don't think they even looked at the 500+ pages of documents I sent in.

And I couldn't find any rich person to invest. I think I would even do a better job now that I learned a little more about cooking and sharpened my accounting/finance skills. I would definitely have a good craft beer selection now also.

What are you doing now, Jason? My dad is always looking at venturing into new businesses and this might be right up his alley.

Shoot me an email if you're interested in talking with him... Gugich22@yahoo.com.
