Is Ruth's Chris/Laffy still any good or did I hit a bad night?

Went the other night for the first time in years. Wife and I both had the 8oz. filet, wedge salads, one order of potatoes, both a martini and 1 glass of wine. $178.00 before tip. Steaks were very unimpressive and the potatoes, may or may not have been out of a Betty Crocker box.
Place was packed.

I haven't been to the one in Laffy in a very long time, but it was always fine. I never order a filet, though. The best Ruth's Chris for me is the one in BR.

I don't order the potatoes, usually. I go with the sweet potatoes, creamed spinach and/or asparagus.

Got a buddy who brought some clients from Iran there a couple of months ago. He said they all ordered filets well done and drank Ruth's out of orange juice.

The best Ruth's Chris to me is the one in the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi.

That one is phenomenal every time.

No way in hell it's worth $90 a piece.

haven't eaten at that one but have been to a couple different locations. The food is always good but it costs at least twice as much as it is worth, IMO. There are so many good restaurants within 30 miles of here that I just see no reason to spend that sorta money there.

ETA: Ate at Mazen's grill in Lafayette Thursday night and had a great ribeye that I bet would compete with any steak at RC.

This is how I am with Ruth's. I go when other people are paying, but it really isn't that great of an experience to me.
I guess that could be said of alot of the higher end national chain steak places, but I have more experience with Ruth's.

Gus doesn't miss. The steaks are consistent, but I can't get away from the fish. Mazen's

The Lafayette store doesn't cook the same as BR or Biloxi. It's like they don't get the broiler hot enough.

Was a big fan for years but the last two times we've been there we were let down. We didn't do steak, but had fish and some Mediterranean apps/dishes, decent at best. We've been leaning on Charley G's as our favorite if we're going to pay that kind of money.
