Probably not.
I suspect that he's invited to a number of the out of state events he attends on someone else's dime. Regardless, Commander's isn't the type of business to run itself into the ground with personal debt.

also McPhail is an employee of commander's like Chef Jaime before him and Emeril and Prudhomme.
If anything Commander's is a launching pad to future chef/owner success.
