Thnking about going to Flemings on Friday night. How is it and is it worth the price? Is filet better than Ruth's?

It's very good, and if you can justify spending the money then it's probably worth it. If that makes any sense.

I haven't been to Ruth's in a while to compare but the steaks at Fleming's are excellent.

Haven't been there since college. That's over 5 years ago, but me and my best friend used to have standing reservations every week there. Was our favorite steak in BR. No telling if it's fallen off tho.

The steaks at Ruth's are better (mainly from swimming in butter), but the appetizers, drinks, sides, atmosphere, deserts, and service at Fleming's are better.

Fleming's is very good. I wouldn't waste a trip to a prime steakhouse on a flavorless filet, but the strip there is outstanding.

1) Yes, Fleming's is good. The kitchen is good. The bar is good. The host is good. The waitstaff is good
2) Skip the filet. Start with the carpaccio, then get the strip. Yes, you want this.

I agree with this. I'm usually a ribeye guy but I got the strip last time. So good.

I was very underwhelmed. I don't recommend it. The food wasn't bad or anything, I just think you are better off spending that amount of money at another establishment.

I'll have to admit that I ate once a week at either Anthony's in West Point or Cappe's in Starkville my last year or so.

Had a buddy that worked at Anthony's in West Point for a while in college and told me I had to come try it that it was worth the drive and that no place in baton rouge could compete...Hands down the best steak I've ever eaten. Depending on what you got you didn't even need a knife. It ruined me on every other steakhouse.

And the guy that owns it..party animal.

The shrimp cocktail was waaaaaay below par compared to most other steak houses I would consider to be their competitors. Same thing went for the sides (asparagus, potatoes, etc...). Also, there signature desert, that chocolate something or other, was weak. Not to mention the atmosphere is to loud for my tastes, at least when it comes to a "premium" steak house.
