I wasn't going to bump the old thread but since this one popped up I will comment after I had my first bottle of this batch last night. It is definitely different and a lot less "juicier" than previous batches. I prefer the previous batch style of IPAs/DIPAs, however in no way is it a bad beer or anywhere close to just average. Just not something to really go out of my way for at this point. I will try the Opus tomorrow.

Andrew was in the brew pup today talking about the Calandro's sell out. They are getting more cases this week.

What beers are you speaking of that are in the same ballpark as GITM? I'd love to know.

Ghost is the best IIPA that can be purchased locally. It's in the same class as Heady Topper, Julius, and Pliny. It's a world class IIPA.

To answer your question, nothing is in that ballpark here.

That being said, "fresh" Envie and Opus Vert can be obtained much easier and they taste very SIMILAR to Ghost. In fact, many people who have had Ghost, prefer Envie because it's much easier to get, and not as boozy.

As far as other really good beers, man, there's tons to be had, they're just not world class IIPAs.

Basically, if you're a beer geek, and have had Ghost, yeah, it gets respect, but there's many others out there to be had.

Yeah, this is what I am thinking. I'm not trying to say that there aren't a lot of great beers on the market, but GitM is just simply in a league of its own, locally and even regionally speaking.

Glad, I don't participate in that free for all. If they would release it in the afternoon it would be alot easier for people who have a hard time finding it to try some.

Haha no, I really am just trying to gauge whether or not the new batch is so bad that I shouldn't try and get some.

Calandros is maximizing their exposure. Noon gets WAY more people in the store than 3.

Absolutely. Look, if you haven't had one, you need to join in the circus and get one. At the same time, buy a 6'er of Envie and drink the two side by side.

I buy my fair share of beer from calandros but....

If someone is really hunting for some ghost, calandros is the last place you should be looking. Tons of people buy beer there and they always post on social media. Any type of special release is gone in 15-20 mins.

one second youre trying to gauge whether or not the beer is so bad that its not worth trying and then you said,"GitM is just simply in a league of its own, locally and even regionally speaking."

I said the "new batch," as in, I haven't tried the latest batch that is getting unfavorable reviews.

I've had some from the previous batches, of which I refer to as being in a league of its on. I can't speak of the latest batch, of which I have not tasted.

The latest batch tastes like Ghost.
It's not radically different from previous batches.
Not better, or worse.

I guess some people have been giving unfavorable reviews but ive never once seen anyone describe it as being anywhere close to bad.

Just buy a pack if you can.

You should be proud of your own beer!
