I will be in DC in two weeks, staying at the Westin, near the White House

Heading up for the weekend to cook crawfish for another poster's fundraiser crawfish boil. I will be there Thursday-Sunday any food or drink sports in the area I shouldn't miss?

Really like Central by Michel Richard, Jaleo (or any Jose Andres spot), after that the mid range falls off. Old Ebbit is a cool scene but the food is replaceable in any other major city's elbow rubbing place. Was a really cool brewery place but the name escapes me.
Personally, I find DC to be one of the most culinarily boring major cities in the world.

Mom and pop places are ok also, just want to be able to grab good food. What about bars with good bourbon selections?

I only spent a summer living in DC during college, but one of my favorite late-night foods that I still try to grab when I'm in the city is Julia's Empanadas.

For a city of its size and relevance, it really is.
In addition the the places you named i would add Rasika and Founding Farmers for a lunch

We the pizza for a quick bite if you're by the Capitol.
Matchbox for brunch.

My girlfriend loves that place, and the two times I've been I enjoyed it as well.

Sounds like I can put together a list of places now for when I am out walking.
If anyone is in the DC area I can point you in the direction for crawfish tickets. I think this is their 5th year of cooking and they sell 300 tickets for the event.

I was just there 2 weekends ago, and I ate at a few places. The food was surprisingly good. I was not impressed with Founding Farmers. As another posted, Old Ebbit was great scenery. I thought their crab cakes and clam chowder were quite good.
Now for the real winner. You absolutely MUST go to Blue Duck Tavern
This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten anywhere. We sat at the bar and downed a few of their coctail creations which were quite nice, but the food was outstanding. When you go you have to get their french fries. Seriously. I don't know what it was about them, but they were killer.
We had the following and thought each item was outstanding:
Collards, Brussel Sprouts, and the Chicken Fried Wild Quail. This was the best quail I have ever eaten, and I love quail. We got the apple pie desert based on all the glowing reviews I read, but we weren't too impressed with it. That was the only miss.

And a damned good burger place nearby owned by the same chef called Good Stuff Eatery.

Anything else to check out?

Is the spot by Top Chef finalist Mike Isabella any good? I know he owns one or two in DC

Founding Farmer's was actually really good. Their bar was legit as well. If you want a real culinary experience go to Minibar by Jose Andres. It costs a pretty penny and you need to reserve now.

Neither are within walking distance to your hotel, but check out Southern Efficiency and Jack Rose for whisk(e)y offerings.
