Yes by whisky standards you are doing it wrong, should be consumed at room temp neat or with a splash of water. It is a single malt scotch and has spent 12 yrs aging it should be savored and enjoyed. All that being said its your whisky drink it how you like.

One small ice cube, let it sit about 5 minutes to melt. Swirl it around in the glass too. Or you could do a splash of chilled water for the same effect.

Neat liquor tears my stomach up. A couple of ice cubes is all I need.

Not at all. I drink my scotch in a 20oz styro cup filled with ice. Maybe that's why I go through a bottle every two weeks
