Found these at Dollar Tree (so sue me I'm poor). Cost a dollar (duh) and you get 6 pouches that each have 2 tablespoons of paste. This will help reduce waste at my house for sure.

Nice find for a good price. I use the tubes of paste that I keep in the fridge once opened. They're pricier than what you have, however.

ETA: I make some trips to the various Dollar type stores periodically. I find some neat stuff there on occasion.

Used the cento paste tube for the first time this week. It's pretty handy and a lot more convenient than cans

But still, once you open the tube, it's only good for like a week at best, right?

The cento just says refrigerate after opening and it's good until 2019

It's only 2 TBS, you plan on using less than that?

The reason its at Dollar Tree for a dollar is it is being discontinued by the manufacturer

No, just wondering how long the stuff is good for once opened. I know it's not the same, but Spaghetti sauce, once opened, is not good through it's expiration date.

I love those tubes. I use Cento or Amore or whatever brands I find. I buy several at a time. I use them until they run out, which is always long before the exp date. I can't think of when I use it at the moment, but apparently, there are enough things I make which use a T or 2 at a time of paste because I use it pretty often. I keep cans on hand for larger amounts.

I don't know about that. It's still on the Hunt's website and they say it's sold at Whole Foods, Walmart, Fresh Market, Ideal Market and Langenstein's.

I buy a can and use what I need. Then I use a spatula to get the rest out and put it in a sandwich sized ziplock bag, flatten it out and put it in the freezer. When I need more I just break off a chunk of it.

I went to my local dollar tree at lunch.... didn't find any. However, I did pick up a can of sardines, some Zapp chips, a roll of Necco candy, a pair of garden snips and a handheld garden rake...... $5.26

That's what I used to do years ago. If you open the can at both ends, you can shake it and the paste will come right out. No spatula needed. I wrapped it in plastic wrap in the tubular shape and cut off what I needed.

I used to buy reading glasses and WD-40 at Dollar General but now the $4.99 pairs at the checkout at Home Depot are my go tops.

Every Dollar store I've been in looks like it was turned upside down and shook.

Not sure about 2019, but why would it not last a year or so in frig. The cap seals fairly well, no different than factory seal. Acid in tomatoes probably helps. Refrig temps.
As long as it taste good, I would think it is ok

I get all the names confused, but I agree with you that some of them look pretty rough. I think the customers toss things around. One of the Dollar type stores is always neat that I go to, though I've only been in there maybe 3 times. I think it's a Dollar Tree. I needed some Mardi Gras beads before Mardi Gras and they were neatly displaced and very very cheap in price. Felt like I was stealing.

I go to some of them before Christmas when they first put the stuff out to buy things for my niece to use as stocking stuffers for her young students. Always has inexpensive neat things those kids love. Also, the plastic containers I use for gumbo gifts that time of year are much cheaper, so I stock up.
