Say you were trying to come up with a per person amount for a large group, how much do you think is spent on seasonings & extras per sack? $10? More?

Obviously I can do the crawfish math. Trying to figure a price to tell people that includes the boiling extras too.

Some people do the dry and liquid crab boil but I just do liquid.

One 12pz bottle for about 15-20 lbs. that usually makes them decently spicy

Of course you have to Texas style dust them after you dump the pot on the table

I'd say more than that but I have no idea how much any of that stuff costs in a store cause I buy it all wholesale.

I have a spreadsheet for quotes that all I do is enter the amount of people and it figures everything down to how many trashbags I'll need for heads.

Don't know how useful it would be for a few sacks, it's set up to buy corn by the case, seasoning by 50# box, liquid by the gallon, potatoes by the case, etc

That's fair. We just do like 4-6 sacks at a time. Small time compared to that

Go to restaurant depot and get all your supplies. Much cheaper.

Just to boil 2 sacks you looking at $50 for corn, potatoes, sausage salt, seasoning, onions, mushrooms. When we boil for my wifes family we all pitch in and its normally $15-20 a person.

I eat WAY more crawfish at a boil than I do if I get some already boiled for at home or if I dine out and eat it.

I think it's just because it's there that I eat so much. And I already put down 5lbs at home/restaurants, so I imagine at a boil I put down ~7 at least. Depends on how much they make and how long I'm out there. I'll definitely go back once I digest if the batches are spaced out over the span of a whole day.

Capital City Crawfish FTW.

I'm just not a fan of throwing everything from the kitchen into the boil. it's excessive for me.

We are planning our annual boil right now, and everyone in the group said this as well. When we do a bunch of extra shite (sausage/hot dogs, artichokes, etc.), it ends up sitting in the fridge for days and eventually being tossed.

Now, we just do the basic cheaper sides .. corn, potatoes, mushrooms, garlic, onion.

The garlic is my favorite. I'll eat a whole head of it and then my skin smell HORRIBLE the next day

The size of the crawfish also determines how many lbs. a person can eat. Large crawfish dont go near as far as the smaller to med sized crawfish.

Of course it's possible and probably routine at home, but if you attend a typical, social crawfish boil and consistently eat 10 lbs of the host's crawfish, then you are a dick

LE, I think 5lbs/person is a good amount if youre including sides. Onions, celery, carrots, garlic are all very cheap at produce stands. Mushrooms are usually $2-3 for the blue box size. Obviously sausage can add up. Not a favorite of mine but plenty like hotdogs in the boil and they are pretty cheap. Potatoes are around $1/lb. Frozen corn is relatively cheap and we only use it to help cool down the pot.

I have a boil at my place every spring and we usually have around 100-150lbs. With sides and beer and all the random shite you need for whatever, it usually comes out to $400-500. Biggest price factor is the crawfish.

More than 10 probably. A pack of seasoning is around $4-5. Depending on the veggies you pick, it can easily use up that last $5. Add in sausage and you are way over 10$ per sack. I would just call it an easy $20 per sack
