So evidently I have a really bad habit of committing myself to having people over for dinner at my house.

Started talking shite to this Mexican girl saying I could cook better than her. Somehow I came up with the brilliant idea that we'd both cook tomorrow at my place for all our friends.

I was going to try my hand at pupusas for the first time. I'm sure Mexican food isn't difficult to cook but honestly the only thing I've ever made is guacamole.

I was thinking of doing some Mexican rice. Not sure what she's going to do.

Well, considering pupusas are El Salvadoran you might want to do some research.

And Mexican food done right is hard to do. I'd say carnitas would be a better option for a beginner like you.

Where is Afreaux when you need him?

Maybe you can research home made tortillas or something. Seems like there would be some good recipes online and it would look impressive. Plus tortillas are awesome.

That's why I said Latin food themed party in the title....El Salvador is part of Latin America.

I was thinking of doing that and perhaps some Mexican that isn't as popular in the U.S. like puerco pibil.

I'll probably cheat on the tortillas

The HEB plus by my house sells fresh made corn and flour tortillas. That and there are about 8 billion other Mexican places around here that I could buy them from if I really wanted.

I'd do something easy...carne guisada, asado de puerco, chile verde.

Do some ceviche, flank steak tacos, and some home made salsa

Yeah I probably shouldn't have placed those 2 sentences together like that. Could certainly see why you thought I thought it was Mexican

With the weather the way it is, I'd go with carne asada. Nothing is easier than grilled-marinated skirt steak. Throw some cebollitas on as well. Have tortillas, avocado, cilantro, tomatoes, onion, and any other accoutrement associated with tacos and call it a day.
