So, with my wife, our daughter, our dog, Huckleberry, 10 years commercial brewing experience, over 1,000 solo brews, 110 commercially sold recipes, 10 top 5 brewfest entries, 5 top 3, and 1 brewfest victory, I was prepared to put Cenla on the craft beer map.

So, as Mark Twain once said, “the secret to getting ahead is getting started,” and that’s exactly what I intend to do. The Huckleberry Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in the heart of Louisiana. Founded by an 8th generation Alexandrian, the HBC is as local as it gets.

I hope y’all will come, hang out a lil’, and try some of our brews, as we aim at pouring an adventure into every pint. We are the Rapides Original :

That was my first thought too, but he's been in Portland for 10 years and he has the beard.

Gotta pay the bills somehow.

Unless this dude is loaded and not worried about turning a profit at first.

and the fact that he has been in Portland the past 10 years learning how to brew and winning competitions gives me hope that this won't be the next Flying Heart

Well that’s his best shot to get a mass produced cash cow going. Regular BMC drinkers in that area who would like to support local aren’t going to grab cases of DIPAs and barrel aged sours off the shelves.

If he’s brewed in Portland, and keeps his beard, I’m sure he’ll try to brew stuff for the mavens too.

As a former NWLA east texan, I never thought I'd see the day when Alexandria got a brewery. I'll be rooting for Jacob and his entrepreneurial spirit !!

If the business is run right, even if the beer is just average I think it will do really well. Alexandria needs something fun to do.

I hope he doesnt put any put any of his own money into this venture, the preachers will shout this down and there arent enough free thinkers in that area to support it.
