Went over the weekend.

Would not go again.

Got the doner kebab and the Belgian fries with garlic aioli.

Kebab was very dry, very thinly shaved, and nothing like I've ever had in Europe (and they claim their food is "inspired by the European-style kebab places"). Waaaaay to much shredded red onions and pickled cucumbers- you could barely taste the meat.

The fries were good.

Also, NO COKE (or any soft drinks). How the hell can you NOT have Coke? I had to get lemonade, which was sour and awful.

I was hoping to like this place.

By all means, try it for yourself if you think you might like it.

I always give a place a try regardless of what I hear about it in advance.

I dig the place. I like the gyro kebab. I like the bread they use -- which is admittedly nothing really like pita. It's cheap as can be too.

Standards for ethnic food in NOLA area are pretty low

You've heard good things because people don't know what they're talking about

This is a pretty big assumption on your part if you haven't been. Got some evidence to prove it's garbage? I too have heard it was pretty good.

Just a thought (but havent been to Kebab), perhaps its a case that Doner Kebabs arent that good taken out of context.

That is to say, yes a Doner Kebab enjoyed in Europe after a night of heavy drinking while looking down on Paris from the steps of the Sacre Couer might be #amazing, but in reality its not really that great as a culinary delight.

I've been a bunch of times and I think it's pretty solid. Although I too wish the gyro wasn't chopped up like they do it. The doner kebab is the better sandwich but I like either one. No soft drinks isn't a game changer.

would you really take stock in a review from someone that wanted to order a COKE at dinner?

I'm trolling man. I have no idea if the place is good or not.

Coincidentally you don't either.

Eaten from there (always get it to go) numerous times, and have always enjoyed it. No prior experience with doner kabobs, but I enjoy the sandwiches and the fries, and its very reasonably priced. They also have a nice hummus plate.

Once again, so glad you gave the street name. I would have definitely been confused with the nearest business with a similar name in Little Rock, AR. You people....

Seems one of the oddest things in the world to get so angry about.
