My 40th bday is in a week. Looking for a good high end bottle of wine I can purchase from dorginacs, Martins , Costco, etc.
Has to be red wine. I love Pinots, malbecs, Merlots, shirazs etc. open to anything.
Suggestions and where to buy?

With all due respect, it sounds like a high end wine would be wasted on your palette
That being said, can't go wrong with opus one cab

Try and find a 1997 nappa valley cab
As rouge said though, you're pallet may not be sophisticated enough to enjoy the cost you're going to have to outlay to get a high end bottle. No offense meant by that either.
Edit to add as much as I've tried to get into wine and as many tasting notes as I can nail, I still couldn't pick out the expensive bottle out of a group of bottles.

You probably will really enjoy Caymus, Silver Oak, or even The Prisoner. They're all on the same aisle at Dorignac's. These wines are popular to the point that "Purists" don't always give them credit, but there is a reason they are popular.
Caymus & Silver Oak are in the $65-$80 range. The Prisoner is around $40. Based on what you've said you like, you might actually enjoy the Prisoner the most.

All those are good, as is a Chalk Hill cab, if you can find it. A high end Robert Mondavi is a great wine, too.

not sure if you live by a Total Wine or not, but i love going in and just explaining to the sommelier there my situation and have he/she walk me through a few choices.
never have let me down. they most of the time even give you samples. ive left there with a nice little buzz before, lol.
i always tell them a range of what i want to spend and what i traditionally like and its always worked out great.

Pretty much a never-ending answer.

That's a pretty wide swath of flavors there. Can you narrow it to maybe a taste preference such as fruit forward, bone dry, spicy, earthy?
