Haven't been in a few years. A buddy of mine in the restaurant business suggested a trout dish where Sclafani coats the fish in a mixture of finely-ground almonds and cracker crumbs and pan-fries it, although he wasn't sure what it's called. Any other can't-miss items? I'm not a big fan of the crabmeat cheesecake, so I don't want that.

I like their arenicini, pork cheeks, pork belly, 45 day dry aged ribeye when they have it.

Pretty sure that's a special and not on the normal menu. The cedar plank redfish is the best thing on the normal menu.

As the other poster said their dry aged ribeyes are great and they will normally let you order that even if it's not on special.

Otherwise it's kind of just a roll of the dice as to what the specials are that night.

I get this every time they have it

Hell I'll even call and ask if they have it when deciding where to go eat

Top 5 pizza in town. Ruffin has a great wine list too.

what are your other 4? this comment wouldn't exactly make Ruffino's a destination choice.

My wife loves the cedar plank redfish as many others have mentioned. I absolutely LOVE their Pork Tchoupitoulas.

Cedar Plank Red Fish or Veal Michael is my go to. Their arancini is alright, but not as good as Gino's IMO

Agreed on the food aspect... but the service is impeccable.

Digiulio Brothers, Red Zepplin, Roma's, Oscars and Ruffino's in no particular order.

Then go to Home Depot and say "what the hell I'm here renting a snake because my kid used a whole roll of toilet paper and stopped up the toilet and Ruffino's is just down the street. Think I'll go grab a pizza while I'm around here before I head back to tackle that tremendous turd."

Then you could look at it as not a destination but say, I don't know, an occurrence.

However for me a top 5 pizza is worthy of a destination. And you excluded the wine portion of my comment which makes it an absolute destination.

Just called to make a reservation for tonight .. only if they had it, and she said "That is not on our menu anymore"..

.. sounded like she meant "ever".

Can't get into their pizza. I've had it three times now and it just isn't my thing.

I have heard DiGiulio's is good though. Love Oscars.

Don't get the regular ribeye from Ruffino's if they don't have the dry-aged... it's not worth it.

The wood roasted oysters, the salad with the baby greens and pecans and either a cheese pizza or an 8 ounce filet.

Or the pork cheeks.

It's nice and not too filling.

Have a Mollydooker or a Beau Vigne to go with that.
