I've been asked to go wait in line on a Friday coming up soon for some friends from out of town that want to do the downstairs lunch.

I haven't had to deal with this before, so I'm wondering how early I need to be in line. I remember the Friday before mardi gras used to be like an overnight thing, but they now action those tables off.

I'm assuming I will be fine if I go get in line by 9:00 and then the party just comes and meets me by 11:00 and they will get in pretty easily?

that's likely not early enough if you want 1st seating

How much do these line sitters get paid to wait for a table.

I'm off on Fridays, have a strong bladder, an external battery pack for my phone along with a nice folding chair, I can pull this off for a stack or 2.

You may get lucky and this work, but I doubt. We paid a guy a $100 and he got in line at 1 or 2 am. There's several ppl you can pay to wait in line for you. Call the restaurant and they'll give you the contacts.

for a normal table (meaning not mardi gras/christmas), usually $10-15 per head?

For some reason, made me sniggle. Wonder if G's gets a cut of their 'regular endorsed standers'?

There's actually a tight knit community of professional line-sitters, some of whom have other jobs and many of whom are closely tied with the staff of Galatoire's, and they can make upwards of$400 plus tip for holding a table on a busy Friday, staking out a spot as early as 4 a.m. They're also indespinsable to Galatoire's FOH staff because they let them know how many guests to expect for any given lunch, so tables can be rearranged and better service provided.

The system is fairly simple: The sitters can only hold a spot for a single party -- a person or a group. They are employed by repeat customers or through a word-of-mouth network that includes other sitters and the Galatoire's staff.

How big is your party? 9 is probably sufficient for a party of 2-6.

I think, and this is just my opinion, its easier to just go around 1 or 1:30 and get in on the second seating. Have a few drinks upstairs while waiting. 9 or 11 am is awfully early

I'm doing this for a group of women who don't want to go there and stand in line. I think it will be 5 or 6 of them.

They are worth it, so I'm will get there at 7:00 AM with a chair and kick back with some brews and enjoy the people watching.

Are you interested in line sitting on October 25 for a group of 6?
