I was thinking of trying to add fresh sausage to the boil. Has anyone tried this before? Would it cook long enough to fully cook the sausage?

Cook it on the grill and leave your damn crawfish alone. Why on earth anyone boils sausage I’ll never understand.

If someone invited me to dinner and I walked in to see boiling sausage on the stove I would not want to eat. And it isn’t even about how boiled sausage tastes…it’s about how it makes everything else, like mushrooms, taste.

Tons of people put that in their boils, but I wasn’t raised like that…

ETA: the downvoters are saying DO IT!

Boling sausage in your seafood boil messes up the sausage AND seafood. All that fat in the water just makes things greasy.

Grill your sausage, smoke your sausage, do not boil your sausage.

I love sausage in my crawfish boil but I would not do fresh. The casing will be tough and rubbery IMO. Once cooked and all yea boil away id say. I use cheep Hillshire type sausage in my boils or the little smokies.

I’ve never had sausage Or hotdogs mess up my boil. Guarantee you couldn’t tell if sausage was in a crawfish boil.

Agreed, sausage isn't gonna mess up your crawfish. I don’t want boiled fresh sausage, me, but no reason you cannot do it.

Sausage is the one non-crawfish item that should be in EVERY boil.

Corn, garlic, and potatoes too- but especially sausage.

You’re acting like people are throwing in sausage with boiled pasta

Depends on the sausage.

If you use a smoked sausage, there’s less fat to render out and alter the flavors of the water.

That’s the most outlandish thing I’ve ever come across on this site and that includes the PT Board.

Agree wholeheartedly. I can't recall ANY seafood boil I've done or been to that didn't have sausage of some type included.
