How the heck does Mother's make a list of 16 restaurants in New Orleans?

Back in the 70's, maybe. Now, no way.

This place is awful. It's like they don't know that there is a way to prepare food other than by frying it.

Then the Food Network needs to get out more often.

I will say this, every time I've passed by Mother's in the last 7-8 years there has been a long line out the door and down the street. I don't get it.

you would think if it was as horrible as people say, then there wouldn't be a line.

i think its passable. sometimes tourists aren't granted the time to explore like locals are able to. So they just go to what they know(or read)

similarly, they probably come upon restaurants the same way a lot of tourists do.

I don't think it's horrible. It's just mediocre by New Orleans standards IMO.

Mother's is simply an institution. Heck, they can't even broadcast a Saints game without showing some stock footage of Mother's.
