Pizza Domenica
John Folse's Folse's Market
Leah Chase's Leah's Kitchen
Mondo (Susan Spicer)
Mopho
Emeril's Table
Cure (that's pretty interesting)
Sazerac Bar
Johnny Sanchez
Brocato's
Willie Mae's

Goddamn. Anything is an upgrade from the dreadfully pitiful offerings now, but that is pretty damn legit.

Won't feel as legit with only a picture of the stand. Those are some impressive renderings though.

The one downside is that Delaware North-Chase is one of the groups running it now and they have done an abysmal job. It is utter garbage.

Supposedly, in the bidding process the biggest factor was they wanted them running the airport location like they would their restaurant location. Similar level of service and food.

Seeing is believing, but allegedly they made it very clear and are working it into contracts that if they slack off and operate at a different, shitty standard, they will be out with the quickness.

Some more renderings:

I've never had a meal at MSY. I've only had Rebal IPAs. I hope they step up the beer game.

I honestly hadn't until recently. Got there way early on an offtime flight and was starving. Ye Old College Inn seemed like the best option. To say it was one of the worst dining experiences of my life would be an understatement. It was actually funny. My wife ordered a Ceasar Salad. 45 minutes later they brought out 4 leaves of romaine, uncut, a plastic container of ceasar dressing, and a plastic container of croutons. They didn't even bother to cut it, just separated it the romaine and put 4 pieces length wise on the plate. My wife took a picture after we laughed. I'll post it if I can find it.

I'm sure they will up the beer game considerably with places like Cure and Sazerac.

My thoughts exactly about eating in the New Orleans airport. It isn't an airport with tons of layovers, which is when I assume most people sit down at a restaurant (that is the only time I eat at the airport)

Agree. People bitch about msy all the time but it is a destination airport. Airports tend to be worse the more attractive the destination is. So unless the are luring an airline to have a hub, no clue why (although im happy for it) this airport needs amenities of an Atlanta, dallas, or other hub.

But hell a Cure in the airport will give one flew south a run for its money.

So how do these contracts work for the vendors? Are they paid a percentage of sales that's split with the management company? Do they pay some sort of "rent" or other flat fee and the vendors keep sales?

I dont see how this works. MSY is a point destination airport. Unless they plan on Southwest upping its share and making MSY a top 10 focus city there just isnt the traffic to support all this.

This is about as pie in the sky as the yearly Six Flags revitalization plan.

I think as Southwest expands their network, they are going to put more flights coming into NOLA, but of course, their model isn't hub so it still doesn't add to the number of connections through MSY.

I was in Concourse B recently for a 6 pm flight out and I was surprised at the number of people having dinner there. I think people truly are starting to get to the airport earlier in order to get through security, and thus find themselves with time to eat.

However, the service levels absolutely have to improve. The menus and the names sound nice, but unless they get the same quality food and most importantly employees, it's going to be a problem. If it's Delaware North running all the locations and doing all the hiring, it's going to be terrible.

Well for what it's worth, I purposely don't eat at MSY because of the food quality. However with these new choices, I'd get there early to eat and have a drink.

They are only doing half, the other half is another group.

And supposedly part of the bidding is that the various vendors will essentially be running it the same way as they would a normal location, with the same level of quality and food. Doubt that will be the case but thats the pitch and apparently was a very large part of the bidding process.

I think the goal with all of this is to make the airport more attractive to get more layover type flights and to attract more international flights.

Also, most people try to get to the airport with as little time left as possible and not eat or drink there because the options are so terrible.

I know I would get there earlier and eat there if the options are this good.
