LBD is a Rougarou. Seriously, if someone doesn't like this, they are just biased against the brewery. Tin Roof has a few clunkers, but this ain't one of them.

B, go buy a bottle from the Matherne's on Highland. The one I had last night sucked. I wanted to like it.

I don't trust Matherne's on Highland anymore. That's where good beers go to die. Every bottle is caked with dust. I see what you mean about the old Endeavour and Timber Beast over there. I think they still had 1/17 Endeavour last week.

Did they put year-old Rougarou on the shelf? I don't see any date on the bottle. This would explain how bad the bottle I opened last night was. I am talking zero hoppy nose and burnt coffee and booze taste. Are the bottles stamped and I am missing it?

And you won't try it, but you'll be more than willing to bash it.

I'll admit, they make a couple that I just won't drink. They make a couple that are OK, but not my cup of tea. And they make a few good ones that I have no problem drinking at all. I get accused of being a homer since I don't bash every single beer they make. So be it.

I wouldn't be surprised. They don't have a way to date the bottles. Hell, most of the time they can't properly date the cans. That needs to change.

Am I wrong? You'll call me a Tin Roof homer, say their beer sucks, and won't try it. I've seen this movie before.

Oh lawd, disagreement about a Tin Roof Black IPA is not worthy of neighborly dissention.
Some may like it, some may not.
After hearing Kim's review I wasn't planning on buying. After hearing some other positive views, now I plan to buy and judge my taste of it myself, just make sure not to buy from Matherne's Highland (just in case). Black IPAs are a very bold beer anyhow, so I wouldn't be surprised to find people people all over the spectrum on thier take of a beer in this style

Eta: If a neighbor wanted to tell me Focal Banger is better than The Crusher, well that kind of foolishness will not be tolerated

An old fashioned neighborhood throwdown over here.

Where's Milo? Can the next bottle share have a cage match?

ETA: And there's Milo

I really like the style and enjoy the good ones. I thought last year's Rougarou was an OK BIPA, but not as good as Dr. Hop. Certainly not on the level of my standards like Stone SSR, FW Wookey, Uinta Dubhe, etc.

The bottle I had last night was bad. Maybe it was a year old--I don't know.

LBD- Rebirth. Need to try this year's Rougarou. Definitely a fan of black IPAS.
