On a beer related note, Paul Arney has doubled his cellar capacity. I believe this means he will be able to brew some different beers at Ale Apothecary.

2BD was another Envie at The Box. 3BD back home is a Hop Rising. Never had it in cans and these were dated enjoy by 8/02/14. This is not a top tier DIPA, but it is solid and we seen to get it fresh here more than Endeavor and Timber Beast for some reason.

No, I tried last year, but wasn't successful.

But visiting a hop farm in the NW sounds AWESOME.

I keep trying to tell my dad to retire and plant hops instead of rice.

LOL@tomorrow

It's Career Day. Kids are gonna have guest speakers all day. I'm gonna sit at my desk and hate life while grading papers and telling kids to STFU

The Portland International Beer Fest is being held in early August, this year. That's right around harvest time for hops, if someone is looking for the ideal time to visit Portland.

That sounds awesome.

Those seem to be the two that have done the best so far. What kind of setup do you have? We have some wooden barrels that are cut down and have a 16 foot 2x4 running up along the side of the barrels. We nailed some lattice to the top few feet of the 2x4s and ran twine down to the plants so that they grow vertically to the lattice

FBD (courtesy B) - very good but not mind blowing, was probably more ground breaking back when it was first released but now days everyone is doing over the top dry hopping

IMO, what sets that one apart is the QUALITY of the hopping. It has an exquisite, clean flavor. I still think it's damn good.

It's also over 2 months old, so it's lost something. Split my last one with rutiger last night and while good, it wasn't the same as fresh.

SBD was a CCB Florida Cracker, then some homebrews to clear keg space. Finally, some of the Mikkeller/Anchorage Beer Geek BreAKfast.

FBD is a Simcoe Brett pale ale from rds. Nicely done. It's refreshing without too much Brett.

It was much better when fresh, the Simcoe dry hop has really faded. I'm hoping that over time the Brett will become more pronounced, giving it a 2nd wind.
