Picked up a HUB IPX today that is organic AND salmon safe. I kid you not. Only in fricking Portland. I'm going to pair it with grilled salmon. My beer may be safe for salmon, but I sure as hell am not...

It is always a plus to know that no fish were harmed in the brewing of the beer you are drinking.

This isn't the one I bought. The one I bought uses "Chinook" hops.

Coater, you packing them back with you or shipping? I'm planning ahead for my trip. Right now I'm planning to get a box and check it

Last time I was in napa I asked a winery for a shipping box and they gave me one no charge...

Hops are toxic to dogs. Maybe to salmon too.

Isinglass is a beer clarifying agent made from the swim bladders of fish. Guinness is probably the largest brewer that uses it. It's used in a lot of wines as well.

After looking at the bottle, I see it says salmon safe hops. Maybe it means the water or something used for the hops doesn't come from dammed up rivers. That's my best guess.

ETA more:

Source. I can get behind that.

Don't the clarifying agents come from sturgeon or something not as "attractive" as salmon?

I figured it was just a certification to allow them to charge more for the beer. However, the beer was only $3.99 for a bomber. I will let you know if it is any good. If so, i'll send some south in my next BXN and I know it will be shared.

I'm more worried about whether or not he's "Salmon-safe".
