Well... if I'm feeling lazy and don't decide to spend ten minutes making some delicious hummus... I'll settle with Boar's Head. Their's isn't bad.

Grandma's Hummus from ATX(sold at most HEB's and Whole foods here in Texas)

F yes to that! Easily the best store bought hummus that I've had. It's as good or better than what you can get at all the best greek places in BR.

Athenos is terrible. I find that many store brands taste like bean dip. I think part of that is the preservatives that they use and they don't put enough tahini and lemon juice.

I make my own hummus pretty often. It's super easy, cheap, and tastes almost as good as some of the best I've had. Using dry chickpeas instead of canned makes a big difference (preservatives can change the flavor).

I've tried making my own once...and it didn't come out all that great and it costs about the same as Sabra from Costco.

Maybe if you are using canned chick peas. A bag of chickpeas is $1 and will make at least 5 sabra containers. Tahini is $5 but is good for probably 10 batches. All the other ingredients are probably less than $1.

I keep all of the ingredients on hand. I can make it dirt cheap...no special purchases needed, and I takes less than 5 minutes.

You use canned peas Otis? That's all we ever used. It's good, but not great. I can't get the consistency just right.

I do. Look at the recipe I have in the book. I think it's consistency is good. Just run the crap out of the FP until it's smoother than goose poop. I need to try dried beans sometime.

Ruth's hummus. It's a local BR product made by a local Lebanese family. They have it at Bet-R, Calvin's, Matherne's, and Calandro's.

We had some friends over the other night and they brought some kind from Whole Foods that didn't have any olive oil in it....it was damn good.

We usually go with Sabra, but will be checking out Trader Joe's since one opens in Katy this week.

I'm not really a fan of Trader Joe's hummus. Texture wise, I find it to be a little too creamy for me and the taste is just...well...bland.

Recently I've been buying Hummus Chick.
