Every time I'm in there I run by and grab some meat.

I ate at Johnsons today for the first time. Two boneless pork ribs, a piece of boudin and some Mac n cheese. It was quite good but $17 with a drink was pretty steep IMO. I want to try the sandwiches.

That was a lot of food, no? I've gotten the one pork rib and a drink for 10-11 and have had plenty food.

We eat way too much and complain we aren't busting at the gut for cheap.. Go to fricking Golden Corral or a pizza/Chinese buffet if you want value/crap. I'll take a place like Johnson's any day and gladly play for their quality every single time.

Yes, plenty of food. I thought it was like two spare ribs not two big chunks of meat. I definitely could have been good with one. I am not trying to piss on Johnsons so no need for the knighting. I just thought it was kinda pricey for a plate lunch.

I agree. I have no problem doing that. But, don't complain because the plate isn't overflowing with food. It is disgusting some portion sizes that are served to people. Give me quality over quantity every time.

When I'd go I would typically get a sandwich, chips, and a drink for $11 or so. Sometimes I'd skip the chips and get a link of boudin. Brings back good memories

Definitely going next time I'm that way. (Next month)

Again, the food was great and a lot. I am not hating on Johnson's and will be back. I want a grilled cheese with pulled pork.

Grilled cheese with boudin ball is awesome, I just posted the price to give you an idea about sandwich prices.

This is my M.O. I endorse Johnson's, but I get fresh fish, good roasted/braised veggies, and good soups at Steve & Pat's Bon Temp Grill on Verot School Road quite often. With so many fantastic rice and gravy plate lunches in the area, I seek out the more healthy options, and Bon Temps Grill is it.

Be it known, that although a casual restaurant, there is an Executive Chef behind the menu, and it shows.

I can get Blackened Tilapia, braised Brusells Sprouts, and sweet potato mash for $12.99.

That beats anything high fat high carb for $7-8 every day of the week for me. I do have a cheat day sometimes though. I mean, you have to.

Tilapia is disgusting.

When everyone mentions Johnsons. Are we talking about Johnson's boucaniere?

Love that old man. He's always wearing an LSU hat with a E sowed on the side because they are from Eunice.

Often there is a higher quality fish for the daily lunch special (salmon or trout), which I opt for, but the tilapia is the backup choice.

Sounds funny, I know, but the blackened tilapia there is pretty good. This is not nearly the same as tilapia at Piccadilly (yak).

Corner Pantry at the corner of Dulles and Foreman and Soops in Maurice. Both are good.
