It's definitely not in a hotel.

Yes, I know it's not in a hotel, but the food is like the food in a hotel restaurant.

Not a restaurant, but there is a place called Shake's that has really good ice cream. It is frozen custard or something like that. Very good!

I haven't been to many hotel restaurants that have escargots, lobster, and fresh pompano.

I don't know what to tell you man, I've been there five or six times with my in-laws who like to go there for the two for one before seven (or whatever) and I think it's average at best. In fact, I don't think the menu has ever changed in any of the times I've been. _______ in a buerre blanc sauce with steamed vegetables. That's pretty much the extent of what they do. It's done well, but it's not real interesting.

I agree that it's not all that interesting or creative but it's good and consistent. You've got to remember we're talking Destin here.

Marina Cafe was very solid the last time I was there (years ago).

Sandors was my favorite in the region (closed now, was in Seagrove Beach on 30-A). 10 tables, yours all night (only took 10 reservations a night). One chef (who graduated from Cordon Bleu in France, and spent the off-season at La Bernadin in NYC). One waiter. It was fantastic.

Okay, I can agree with that. Hell, if I could bring my own wine there, I'd be happy to eat there.

Most of the really good places are outside of Destin imo.

Poppy's seafood factory - the blackened lobster special is to die for. I would drive from BR to destin just to eat it!

If this is the one in the Baytown Wharf area next to Hammerhead's, it is the absolute WORST restaurant I have been to in Destin. Even worse than Landry's. I would rather eat my dog's sh%t after she's been eating other dogs' sh%t all day ('cause she does that).

I agree: Vin'tij, Ocean club, Trader Vic's (on a good night) and pretty much anything on 30A.
