Headed to New Orleans tomorrow for my daughters cheer competition. Looking for a resturant with a good atmosphere around the French Quarter. Any Ideas?

Just want good food and a good atmosphere. Dont really care what kind of food it is, as long as its good. Nothing fancy though, we'll have two children with us.

Might want to try Quarter View in Metairie, on Clearview Pkwy. Very popular family place.

Mandina's on Canal near Carrolton
or
College Inn or Carrolton near Earhart

Short drive from downtown & good food at reasonable prices.

Turtle soup at Mandina's......C'est Bon!

Mr. B's on the nicer end (they have a website)...

Lil' Dizzy's on Poydras is cheap NOLA food in an old Bank Lobby.

Mother's (there will be a line for lunch)

Cafe Reconcile (you would have to drive abit into the ghetto) but it is a GREAT cause...you can read about it on their website.

Surrey's and Blue Plate Cafe seem like good spots for kids as well in the Lower Garden District (5 minute drive from the Quarter).

A cheer competition in NO around the french quarter must be held at the convention center, I'm thinking. There are a couple good restaurants within walking distance.

Couchon, Seven, Tommy's......They should all have websites.

Is that Planet Hollywood place or Fashion Cafe still open because those were some excellent family eateries that were completely in touch with the local palate.

I must say they have the BEST seafood gumbo I have ever eaten. This is coming from a LA native.

If you want something near the convention center, there is a Dragos in the Hilton at the foot of Poydras.

I'd hit Mandina's. Very family friendly and also have a small kids menu.
