Family friendly place downtown NOLA

Hey guys
Bro in law and family are driving through New Orleans and staying down by the convention center tonight. He texted me asking me for a good dinner spot thats not too pricey,family friendly, and a good taste of the local cuisine.
It doesnt have to be right next to the convention center, but preferably somwhere in the downtown area.
I only do work trips to NOLA so im not up to speed and hoping you guys can assist.
