I'm up on Chincoteague Island in coastal Virginia and I ate a place, Don's, last night that offered raw clams and oysters. I got the oysters, they were tasty, but now I'm considering trying the clams. Generally I think clams smell like old bait, but I've only seen them offered steamed.

Raw clams something worth trying?

Everything is worth trying, in my opinion. I've never had raw clams and have a hunch I might prefer them in a ceviche as opposed to raw, but I'd still give it a go

Hot sauce makes most things edible. I'm worried that they'll be large enough that chewing is in order. That's kind of scary.

Just ran a google image search and they seem to be in the same ballpark as oysters when it comes to size and texture. Do it, let us know how it goes
