For the people that say Mississippi deserves last place I'll put SoPro and Crooked Letter up against Parish, NOLA, and Great Raft. I think they'll compare quite favorably.

Eh, SoPro has a solid IPA. I'll admit I haven't had Barley Legal or the Sinister black IPA. Crooked Letter Mystery Romp is their only beer to write home about from them.

Great Raft and Parish has several beers each that are outstanding, and would be in my regular rotation. I have not been to NOLAs taproom, which is apparently the only place they serve decent beers.

I don't think Mississippis lineup remotely competes with LA. And I'm in MS. Jmo.

I don't even consider Abita when it comes to these rankings. I don't really consider abita ever.

I heard Gipsy wasn't bad. Stabello was fine for what it was. It's a lager, which typically isn't going to blow my mind. I liked the Heffe, buuuuuut I was pretty deep in my cups that night. Never had Mariposa.

As for SoPro, the IPA gets a lot of love, although I thought it was malty both times. Seems like Sinister Minister is popular. Barley Legal was really solid. I also like the FireAnt as it warms.

And then there's Yalobusha. They are worth mentioning just because of how much I enjoy the Testify. It's steep at $15/22 oz., but I've paid it I think 3 times now and never flinched. I really enjoy that beer.

That is the best beer to come out of Mississippi. Hands down. $15 a bomber is a steal IMO. I hear they're bottling that again in December. At least that's what they told Polly on Twitter the other day.

Regardless, I'm saying Louisiana is putting out better beers than Mississippi as of right now. But it's close... closer than it should be actually.

Agreed, and I dunno if that's a testament to MS or a knock on LA

both Alabama's homegrown breweries + what they get via distribution blows Louisiana out the water. quite sad.

That's what I always tell people who bring up our lack of a beer scene.. Nola / Louisiana is much more of a cocktail and/or liquor place than beer.

Meh, GR makes two beers and Parish makes two. Nola's ICS, Brown, and Rebirth are great packaged beers. I'm a fan of SoPro, I consider them more local than GR. I can at least buy it in LA's biggest market.

Still waiting on my Envie

I would say they make 3-4. Envie, hoptagon, and farmhouse are all good beers. Even though I'm not a huge fan of DIPA's yet, I would say ghost in the machine is another one.

Canebrake is descent also but I prefer 7th st wheat better. I think Nola is missing the boat on canning that one and promoting it more. Canebrake took off in Louisiana and 7th street should be close to as popular.

I agree with this. These are usually in my rotation. Especially the rebirth being in cans. It will make a good easy drinking fishing/tailgating beer (for me) for sure.

3 beers made year round that I really like.

NOLA Brown is much better than that Good People brown you were pounding a few weeks ago and ICS is solid.

Good people brown blows Nola brown out of the water, and Avery ellie's brown blows them both out of the atmosphere. Now breakfast brown is a different story.

For the life of me I can't seem to ever agree that ICS is great. It's a good beer at best, but I lean more toward mediocre, and I seem to hear people agree with that statement more often than not.

Nola wins in berewery one offs more than anyone around here, but their packaged beers can stay on the shelf for all I care.

No doubt. For all day drinking events it's a good local option to keep pace with my Westbank miller lite drinking homies without getting too bent.
