LINK

This place wasn't open yet when the wife and I went there last week. This has been on my radar for quite a while. Can't wait to try it out.

Have you ever tasted Ethiopian food?

Neither have they.

They have an Ethiopian place on Magazine Street in New Orleans. I've never tried it but some friends said it was not bad.

I'm in Montgomery on business. Any particular place I need to try? I usually eat at Central cause it's close to the hotel. Thinking about doing Korean. Heard they have good Korean here because of all those Hyundai employees they brought over here to run the plant.

I just went to Wikipedia to look at ethiopian food and I must say that I am not really impressed. There must be better examples out there.

That food Marcus Samuelsson cooks looks good on TV. He's from Ethiopia.

ethiopian is good, but it is not appealing.

There are a couple of places in Nola with it.

That looks like dogshit and is not what I've seen, outside of the greens on the right.

Ethiopian food has similar style dishes that Indian food has. Meats and veggies are cooked in thick sauces, and you use sourdough flatbread to pick up your food from the plate. It's made to be shared. Some dishes can be spicy (hot) but very tasty.

This is how you eat ethiopian food

You can't go wrong with the Doro Wott, which is served at most places.

OK google "Ethiopian Food" I bet 90% of the responses are Injera with pastes and sauces on top. What I posted is what most consider ethiopian. Injera with sauces and pastes.

I didn't say it wasn't good, only that it didn't look good.

I don't get to Montgomery much, but they had a Korean BBQ place there that was damn good. I wish I could remember the name, but it escapes me. There was a good collection of places to eat near the River Walk area. Mostly higher end chains, but a few local places mixed in.

What do you call an Ethiopian with a sesame seed bun on his head?

A quarter pounder.

Abyssnia and Nile are pretty solid in NOLA. The setup at Absynnisa(sp?) can be a little weird.

I've heard mixed reviews about the food hall. I hear it's overcrowded, overpriced, and not as good as the many restaurants surrounding it.

first time i've been, so i'm not sure, but the noodles were a bit overpriced ... admittedly, i have not eaten ramen noodles in a very long time, but i've eaten a couple of times at places that serve them ... these were $14 ... nice sized bowl that was smaller than most asian noodle bowls you get, which are too big in any event, though it's less food than normal ... saw a couple of other places where various plates/items seemed to be a few dollars more than normal ... gyro plate was $15, i think ... it's airy and open, so there's a lot of noise ... almost felt like a nightclub at times with the bar in the middle and the music overhead ...
