El Paso Mexican Grill?

So ours just opened and it's in that too crowded stage for me. Hope to go soon. What do they do well, and what should I avoid? How's the chili relleno?

Our has been open for few months now and I really like it. We've had their quesadillas, chimichangas, fajitas, flautas, tacos, etc. Any of these with steak or shrimp are delicious. Their chicken for some reason just doesn't do it for me. It's just bland. Salsa is good. Queso is good. Just temper your expectations. It's a cheaper Tex-Mex place. They aren't trying to be anything else.

We went the other day. Me and the two young girls went and we were waiting for mommy to get there while I ate chips and salsa. (I thought they were very good by the way). About five minutes after getting there, my three year old throws up everywhere. I tried to cover it up and block the view from other patrons. I got a server that wasn't ours and she got about four people there to help clean up immediately. They were very attentive and very kind. I ended up sending the girls home with momma about two minutes later and ordered food to go from the bar.
1. I usually judge Mexican restraints by chile verde and steak fajitas. I got neither of those, opting for carne Asada so that it would travel a little better. It was very tasty (8/10).
2. The chips and salsa were very good. Good cilantro flavor. (8/10)
3. My wife is scared of Mexican food and always gets cheese quesadillas. She said they were very good.
4. Their professionalism was nothing but top notch dealing with my girl and an embarrassing situation. This alone will get them more business from me.
5. My goto in Alex is Los portales. El Paso is just down the road from my home but I'm not sure it's better than Los portales or even Julia's. I will say that I didn't smell like fajitas when I left.

I love it here in Baton Rouge, the best Tex-Mex that we have in town as far as I am concerned.
Their chicken enchiladas are great, shredded chicken is awesome. I haven't had a single thing I didn't like and have been with a ton of people who ordered all sorts of different things and everyone has loved it.
For me it is very consistent and that is key, I love knowing that when I go it will be top notch.

I can't see anything besides a former Applebees and that kind of ruins it for me. I usually pass it up and go down the road to Las Palmas.

The best thing on the Los portales menu is the chori pollo with no beans double rice with some cheese sauce on the rice.
I don't eat a lot of beef fajitas when I go there. When I do fajitas I usually do chicken and shrimp.
I'll have to disagree with you on Julia's. I love their fajitas. I will concede that Their chips/salsa leave much to be desired and you always leave there smelling like fajitas.

Haven't tried that. I may soon. Their Chile bola is so good.
Julia's fajitas aren't bad, but I don't eat them often. Everything else I've had was terrible. I'd love to know what the hell they put in their cheese dip. I swear I think it's corn meal.

You're subbing one crappy place for another.

We've been having one in Raceland for a few years. It's your basic Tex-Mex. My favorite things..... Soupa Cameron, Ceviche, the bean dip they give you with the Salsa, Mexican Burger, Fish Tacos, and theres a pork dish that comes with pine apple chunks that's really good.

One of their best dishes is the Fajitas Al Pastor.
From the menu: Marinated Pork Strips in Adobo Sauce with Pineapple; served with Rice & Refried Beans, Guacamole Salad, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream & Flour Tortillas.

It's no Los Pollos Hermanos, I can guarantee you that...
