Eating Places You Stumbled On That Were Surprisingly Legit

and I mean stumbled, like almost blindly walked into with no prior knowledge of the place.
Suire's Kaplan, La - Passed in front of it several times heading to and from job sites. Finally stopped for lunch, been a regular ever since. Old country store on the side of a highway, Menu's written outside on the wall in spray paint.
Shrimp Basket Gulf Shores, Al - Sitting on the beach, plane fly's by with an all you can eat shrimp banner. I'm in, been in for almost 10 years now. Won't blow your socks off, but the most bang for your buck at the beach.
Cypress Grill Venice, La - Stay at Cypress Cove Marina from time to time for work. Went there because it was at the hotel, surprisingly good food and the cypress potatoes will actually knock your socks off, talk about legit.
Miller's Sea Wall Grill Galveston, Tx - Went on a weekend trip recently, 5 year old daughter saw it on the way in, started hollering "Castle! I want to go to the castle!" It's not a castle, but looks like one to a 5 year old. I saw it was a restaurant, wife checked the reviews, got a lot of praise from the locals. We went for supper and was pleasantly surprised, great food and reasonable prices.

If only we had a board for discussions like this...
Maybe one day, sigh.

Big Jakes in St. Gabriel, La.
Hoss Cartwright Porkchop is hard to beat! Better get there before the doors open... the sell out quick.

Burrito on Burbank. We've all seen the gas station with "Burrito" on it. Found out 5 years ago that it was a legit food place. All Spanish speakers and stuff, but damn that food was authentic and cheap. And I didn't get shanked, so that's a plus. Unfortunately it looks like it rebranded recently

Bell Street Farm in Los Alamos. We were just driving through California and stopped there for lunch. It was a fantastic sandwich shop.
We also stopped is Los Olivos, which is an awesome little wine tasting town. We're definitely going to take another trip out there and stay for a weekend.

The quality has gone to something worse than shite but the weird Asian-owned John's Seafood in Bossier gave me the best fried oysters I've ever had, once and only once.
Checked it out on a whim because they had a Buddha statue but had stuff like "CHICKEN GIZZARDS" written across the side of the building. Seemed unique. Walk in, an enormous black chick with maroon weave was having a spirited personal coversation on store's phone. $10 and tax gets me 12 oysters, fried rice, an egg roll and a grocery store dinner roll. I load up on duck sace and the heavens part as I taste my oysters.
Went maybe 6 months ago and trashed the whole plate.

Back in 2005-2006, I spent time working out of a hotel in Columbus, Mississippi. I’d spend 3 weeks at a time up there, then go home for about 5 days.
One Sunday after church, I stumbled upon his white shack of a place that served BBQ. Grabbed a plate to head back to my hotel and eat while watching football.
Next thing I knew, every Sunday I was going there to grab BBQ to eat in front of the TV for Sunday games. Place was legit.
Can’t remember the name.

Definitely.
I miss the Country Corner in Sargent back when they did wood-fired steaks and BYOB.

There was this little restaurant called Eddie's that was attached to a gas station in the middle of nowhere out near Global Wildlife.
They had the best damn country food. Their hush puppies and greens were fantastic.
