Last minute trip unfortunately for a funeral, but am staying downtown. Any bars/restaurants the FDB can recommend for a solo traveler?

I'd be sitting at the sushi bar at Morimoto in a heartbeat.

Sorry for your loss.

El Vez
A Kitchen + Bar
El Rey (ask your server to go to the Ranstead Room after - it's an awesome bar)
Any Garces restaurant is good too
Talulah's Garden
Parc
Frankford Hall

Fyi, A Kitchen + Bar is one of the best meals I've had anywhere. My gf and I split the duck breast. The entrees are on the pricey side, but I found drink prices to be cheaper compared to other places in the city.

The Ranstead Room is a speakeasy style bar. It's marked by an all black door with a red star on it that is located on a side street directly behind El Rey. If you eat at El Rey, you can ask your server to bring you there and they take tou through the kitchen and basement to the bar. It's probably my favorite bar in the country.

Frankford Hall is a great drinking place, but it's out in NoLibs which is kind of out of the way of center city. Society Hill and Rittenhouse are the prime time spots for food and drink downtown IMO.

ETA: Oh, and Cappifitto is supposed to have the best gelato outside of Italy and they just opened a pizza place that is supposed to be good.
