Yes, you cheap bastards. Tip him. He's doing 10 times more than the waitress. He's cooking your food and making a presentation for your entertainment, then putting your food right in front of you.

Heck yes! At the Kyoto's here they make some awesome food. The fried rice is great.

All of you who answer "yes" are getting HOODWINKED!

All of the servers at Sushi/Hibachi restaurants have to pony up to pay those guys out. Trust me they do good.

yeah I was always under the impression that the tips at a hibachi restaurant were split between the servers and the chefs

No tips for searing my face, making loud noises, and telling bad jokes.

No tip, just tell him joke, chicken teriyaki, thats the oldest living kamakazi pilot.

Yes you tip him, especially if you are a regular.

Yes you do, the chef is providing you with the food and a table side performance at the same time. A waiter/waitress brings you the food and places it in front of you, and you tip them. PS the man can throw knives and catch them, there is always an OOPS clause.

Generally, I always tip at least 3 bucks. A really good chef I'll throw him a little more. I certainly don't do any type of 20% deal, cuz that shite is expensive already.

It is customary to tip your hibachi chef actually since they are doing so much work to give you a show. I actually will tip my sushi chef if Im sitting at the sushi bar itself (not usually if Im sitting in the main dining area.)
