I'm a big fan of Dives and Mom and Pop places and recently moved my office to hwy 74 and Airline area. I know a lot of the BR places but not this area. Thanks in advance.

Country kitchen-on airline in gonzales. Country buffet, I like it but I'm fat so...

El meskal-airline in gonzales, great hole in the wall mexican.

Crossroads bakery on hwy 44.
Good lunches.

Mikes poboys gonzales. Best poboy around

There's a pretty good bbq joint on hwy 74 towards st Gabriel.

Carlico cafe by the movie theater is pretty solid.

There's a good plate lunch place in Dutchtown at a gas station on hwy 73. Can't think of the name.

Thanks guys, keep them coming! I believe the place you're talking about indytiger is Big Jakes BBQ. I had a roast beef poboy at Tee Wayne's today and was pleased.

If you can put up with he terrible service, Italian Bowl serves very good food in Prairieville.

Airline & 621. Seafood Corner, attached to the Exxon station.

Good burgers over at Griffin Grill in Dutchtown. Same folks from Dairy Delight.

Don't be scared by the sketchy store but Geismar Grocery has probably the best burgers. They are awesome. They are down 73 towards HWY 30.

They are few and far between. I grew up out there and always loathed the dining options available. People tend to go to the same two or three restaurants every time they go out.

It says a lot about your town when the most popular restaurants are typically Cracker Barrel, Outback Steakhouse, Las Palmas, Casa Maria, and Raising Canes.

With Berthelot's gone, there is really nowhere to get decent seafood anymore. Dutch's in Port Vincent is a decent steakhouse with reasonable prices. DeAngelo's is easily the best Italian option around. Frank's is the go-to breakfast joint.

Honestly, even though it's a chain, I think Brew-Bacher's is probably the best dive bar in town.

Severely overrated. It's lesser quality than Mi Padres, Casa Maria, and Las Palmas (which should never be your standards when it comes to measuring good Tex-Mex cuisine).

Not only no, but hell no.

Why does everyone obsess over that place's bland chicken? Just because it's locally-owned doesn't mean you have to support it.

Neither one of them are located in Prairieville or Gonzales. For most people, it's actually quite a drive to make your way out to the Diversion Canal.

Secondly, Hill Top is some of the most overpriced seafood around.

The drive really depends on where you are driving from. Some places in Gonzales you can get there in 10 minutes...
