Well to be quite honest I should thank my lucky stars I'm not in charge of business development for a donut shop.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you have no idea what you are talking about

I know what I'm talking about. I know the area, the owners, the lack of foot traffic, the lack of traffic period off season, the lack of qualified workable personnel available, the crust cut off immature palates of Baton Rougeans, the competition located all around it-many with lower cost, the high dollar tenants who have pulled out (Mignon Faget most recent) the Whole Foods crowd that will not eat a $2 donut or a $4 pork slider unless they are dressed in Quinoa. To cover the overhead which not only includes extremely high rent (high enough for Whole Foods to complain and renegotiate lease terms) payroll, insurance, taxes, mortgage for buildout, food cost, light bill and on and on, they will have to have a line out the door at all times to break even much less make a profit. Town Center is not Magazine Street.

But hey...it's not a donut shop.

You should open up a highly successful business in Towne Center if you're such an expert

Haha Kudos. I see where you are going now. I would also kill to invest in any project DD had, Towne Center included.

See you don't get it. I am successful because I don't do things like that. I also know Steven Keller very well. He owns it. I know where he is pretty much on terms. I also grew up in Bocage so I know the area and clientele very well. If they were opening just across the street where Dearmans is reopening I would think differently and they would be better off in that location. Even better and cheaper down Corporate where Another Broken Egg is.

What makes you think I don't have a highly successful business in the area anyway?

In fairness, the only time I ever go there is when people visit from BR and want an Instagram picture.

I absolutely think the Elmwood location in Harahan will fail.

That clearview/Elmwood corridor right there is one of, if not the most busiest in the state (study may be outdated)

People stopping in District after leaving all of those other shops in Elmwood alone will keep them in business, I bet. Then you got the movie theater, all of the businesses tucked away in Elmwood Park, the sheer amount of traffic traveling down clearview w/ the widened Huey P

The same people that eat up theos, 5 guys, Zoe's, chipotle etc in there are the same people who will eat District Donuts imo.

Hello everyone (first time post to Tiger Droppings)! We're super excited to be coming to BR - we've spent a good bit of time there, whether with family or in school, and don't really feel like an outsider. A few of you seem to have some interest in us and our future in The Baton Rouge Community. The great thing is, we LOVE to talk about that kind of stuff and engage the curiosity. If any of you would ever be interested in talking through who we are and why we are planting in BR, we'd love to support that and set up a time and place to dialogue with you as a group. If interest is there, we will do the legwork to come up with a venue. Hope to hear from y'all soon, and if nothing else, we'll see you this summer at our new home in Towne Center.

The breakfast sandwiches are really good and the donuts I've had have all been pretty tasty. Had the sliders for the first time over NYE weekend, they were small but excellent.

Was at both the last day of NOLA Smokehouse and the first day of CCBQ. Saw Rob this morning at CCFM. Like I told him this morning, his BBQ is a blessing to the city. Aaron B. and his newest partners are also a really talented, stand-up group.

Have something really fun coming up with Courtyard Brewery - you never know what food item may make a brief appearance.

What factors went into choosing Towne Center as your first Baton rouge Location? We're other locations considered and could we see another District open up in baton rouge?

Is this where we make a bet? Because it hasn't worked out too well for the novelty cupcake places.

Which only made cupcakes (a fad food) unlike DD which makes a wide range of foods.

Sorry District Donuts banged your girlfriend.

A meeting with TD Food and Drink experts would be awesome. Some samples of donuts and sliders would be great as well.

Count me in
