I figure with him being from Opelousas, a few posters here must’ve known him/crossed paths with him/his family.

I know some of the Chachere family, but not Tony himself.

There's a decent chance he never existed

My in-laws know a lot of the family but never met Tony himself.

And yes, he existed.

in 97-98 I Worked with a chick named Charlotte. Her maiden name was Chachere. She claimed to be part of the family.

My goodness she was a smoke show!

back in the mid 70's had a group of friends that included his granddaughter, went by his house a couple of times and he would cook and feed us, I was living in Opelousas at that
time. Interesting fact is he started packaging that seasoning when he retired from his primary career.

At one point during my working years, I was VP of Quality and product development for a food packaging company. Our Sales/Marketing guy was an All American football player for LSU and one of the Chinese Bandits back in the late 50s. It seemed like everyone in Louisiana knew him. We went to their operation once on a business call and I met Tony. He was pretty old, but a nice guy. My Sales/Marketing friend was a real character and had known Tony for many years. We discussed doing business with them several times, but it never worked out.

His grandson went to college in Natchitoches. He was a total a-hole. "My grandad is Tony C!"

Didn't he know that there are like twenty purveyors of high-end aquatic camo thin-hoodies with super SPF and breathable fabrics??? WTF how did he ever catch fish??? You're not really being outdoors unless you have all the latest gear.
