Someone needs to open a Darrels in the lafayette or Scott area. I go to Lake Charles maybe once a year and it would kill down around these parts. I heard the old man that owned it passed away a year ago. Not sure who owns it now or if thats even an option.

Have an up vote for the most overrated place in a town with no other options.

Other people in the same area (lake Charles and Sulphur) have done similar sandwiches. As with any Sandwich, bread is key! Jalapeño mayo is pretty easy to make as well.
Not saying it could not happen. It would have to be consistent.

Lol, No. Hillshire farm ham, cup of mayo on a hogie bun isn't franchising material.

Darrell died a year or so ago and his daughter who is a raging count bag fired everyone including the the guy who ran the place for Darrell.

She ruined the only good college bar/grill lake charles had.

I don't think Darrel's would make it in Laffy

people are cliquish when it comes to food as they are very loyal to long time establishments

Murph has a gold mine with 2 Olde Tyme Grocery locations (campus & Broussard) and Chris' also makes a great po-boy albeit to small IMO
