I wanted to post my culinary outing since so many people were helpful in assisting me with Dallas recommendations. We didn't get to Dallas proper.

Black Walnut (Coppell)-great place to hang out and drink coffee in the morning.
Anamia's (Coppell)-I liked it a lot. The cheese enchiladas and refried beans were good and the tableside guac was excellent.
Hard 8 (Coppell)-sooooooo good
Londoner (Frisco)-went before the Dallas FC game. Didn't like it. Waiter was nice, but clueless. So we walked over to
the
Blue Goose (Frisco)-just drank and had quesadillas. I didn't try them but was told they were good. Sat outside. Nice
Joe T Garcia's (Fort Worth)-Cheese enchiladas were only ok. Margarita's were fantastic. Outdoor seating was wonderful.
Steel City Pops (Fort Worth)-great popsicles
Flying Saucer (Fort Worth)-OK beer bar. Not my style though.
Frankie's Sports Bar (Fort Worth)-corporate feel, but TVs everywhere including the streetside patio. Good drinks and specials.
Reata (Fort Worth)-Loved it. The food was wonderful. Good drinks including a Texas drink menu of beers and spirits.
Dickey's BBQ (DFW)-meh, but better than Wendy's.

Black Walnut - good place, a little $$ for what you get

Anamia's (Coppell)-been wanting to try this, new one in plano and its always packed. been hearing good things

Hard 8 - AWESOME

Londoner (Frisco)-i dont mind it. its good for what it is

Blue Goose (Frisco)- good food, good drinks, good patio. not the best but good for what it is

Joe T Garcia's (Fort Worth)-overrated but still good. not worth the wait

Dickey's BBQ (DFW)-quality went down when it became a chain. the original is still great off 75 in Dallas. much different

I'm an early riser. I walked there and got there about 6. Drank coffee and did a bit of work until 8 every morning.

Joe T Garcia's

Since it's been around since 1925 it was a cool place to try. We caught the wait really well. 10 minutes or so.

Thanks for all your help leading up to the trip.

P.S. I ready to hit up Hard 8 again.

So not really a Dallas Trip.....more of a Ft Worth and suburb trip. I wouldn't recommend any of those places except Hard 8....and Flying Saucer for beer.

I Like Ft Worth....wouldn't want to live there though. Dallas has a lot more variety of stuff to do.

If you're not a craft beer guy then I understand.

I can see that.

I am, but not like some here. Beer selection was good, but the place was blah and the servers were about the same. Blah. That's why I say 6/10. The beer selection elevated it.

Was it the downtown ft worth location? The patio there is nice. They were in an old building across the street that had a lor of character. But the city made them move 2 or 3 years ago so they could give a developer the property....some public/ private deal.

It was. Patio was full and we were trying to watch the Rockets-Clippers game.

Sitting outside on the patio would have made a huge difference. Those plates (saucers) are crazy. Some people had drunk 3600 beers there.
[Is that right? 200 beers per plate I think] I can't imagine having spent $20,000 on beer.

I'm not sure what the plates involve. There isn't a Flying Saucer near me in Dallas so I don't go there much. But 3600 beers ain't that much..... ....really....it's not....it's actually quite normal.....I just checked my Untappd checkins....Untappd is a phone app that lets you log beers. I pretty much just log beers I have never had before.....so about 10% of my beers. In 1 1/2 years I have 800 checkins...I'm below avergae.....trust me.

Never mind what I said earlier about being sort of a craft beer guy. I like it but I drink about 100 beers per year.

The average poster in the FBD thread drinks that in a week.

Thank you for debriefing us on where you went. A lot of threads ask for suggestions but don't follow-up and say where they went.

Reata's is great - good call. If you are ever back in the area for an FC Dallas game, try out the Fifth Street Cafe.

I am beginning to realize that. I can either drink beer or be thin. Can't do both.

I will let my daughter and her husband know about this. They go to a lot of FCD games.
