A friend and I saw that one of their food trucks would be in our area tonight so we decided to check them out. I got a lobster roll and she got the lobster tots. Both filled us up and I will make a bold prediction that I will try them again. This just surpassed the Scrub Daddy as my #1 Shark Tank product.

Any other Htown peeps try them out yet?

The Houston franchise owner is already working on his 4th truck. Here is a link to the company's Shark Tank Update

Have you been to Mainely sandwiches yet? How does it compare? That's as far as my lobster roll expertise goes unfortunately.

Can't decide if the tots looks appetizing or not

I haven't, but saw someone compare the 2 on yelp. The bread is also flown in from what I understand. I don't have much lobster roll experience either.

The lighting wasn't the best, but I heard they were damn good.

Why is it called a roll anyway? It appeared to me more like a piece of Texas toast. It was nice and soft, it was great.

It's a split-top roll. It is a hot dog roll cut on the dark side rather than a side between the dark and opposite side. Great for toasting/grilling as you can kinda treat it like Texas toast and slather on the butter if needed. It is weird to think the split top roll was "normal" growing up; no one bought the side-split rolls even though they were sold in stores.

I think this place needs some red casing hotdogs on the menu as another option.. That would be mmm mmm mmm good.

I have no idea what constitutes "authentic" because I know when you Google authentic Cajun recipes, a bunch of head-scratching shite comes up.. but Wikipedia says lobster meat is soaked in butter before being used in the roll. Is this true?

I've always assumed I'd really like the ones where it is mixed into a mayo-based salad. No idea if that is authentic either.

I think there are two types. A regional thing. One with a mayo mixture and one with drawn butter.

Looking at the menu, there are two. Not sure which one the OP had.

That looks great. Love lobster rolls. I went to the Mainley place in Houston for them once. Will check this out next time I am there. I like that little shack at Seacrest also. Hope this spreads to Nola.

And I would definitely try the one from Cousins.

You can never pick the wrong week to start keto.

Only the wrong week to stop it.

That picture looks more like what I'd expect, Darla, but I'm no expert on these at all. I made some several months ago and I probably used more of the mayo than is traditional, but it sure was divine. I'm a lobster fan, so I'd eat any of them.

I haven't tried the mayo one, but the butter lobster roll is very good.

I have always seen lobster rolls with claw and leg meat with mayo and "cruchy stuff"
I would eat that sammich. Probably pass on the tots.
