Has anyone ever done this? Some recipes I see say to add chicken stock, some say no liquid. Does anyone have any experience cooking them in a crockpot? Should I stick them in the oven?

Very good.

Smoked hens are awesome, as well halving and them frying them.

I'd spatchcock them shits and brown them in a cast iron skillet with a little bacon grease. Remove them, brown some aromatics in the remaining fat and then add the birds back to the skillet. Wack them into a 400 degree oven until they're at temperature and enjoy.

Im up against time. Wife has to work tomorrow evening and my kids have activities. I want to put them in the cockpit before work and have them done when I get home.

I would think they'd be mush after all day in a Crock Pot.

Maybe save them for a day when you're aren't up against it, and toss something else in the slow cooker tomorrow instead. Or order pizza or something.

I feel like they'd be kind of a waste being in a slow cooker all day.

Update; Wife cooked them in a Magnalite pot in the oven, basted them with butter every 15 minutes for 1:15, they came out great.

Oven Roast the Hens with squash, zucchini, onion, mushroom, and carrots. I think it's one hour at 375. Season as you please.
