Sounds like it's too late to help out but how about a little write-up?

My favorite spot in town.

Yea, it was great. I didn't realize the menu changed every night. We did the 5 course tasting menu.

Amuse bouche was a coffee smoked cobia with pickled kumquat and then some little rice beignets.

First course was baby carrots, charred scallions, a cashew ranch and some guajillo chile.

Second was a Louisiana rice with shrimp and hog's headcheese.

Third was a Red Snapper with romesco, tuscan kale and celeriac.

Fourth was quail with chaurice sausage, crowder peas, parsley and scallions.

Fifth was some type of strawberry ice cream/mousse with a diced strawberry salad and tarragon.

All in all, an excellent meal. Absolutely will be back!

I don't know what it is, but that place has a funny smell.

Like mold or musty or damp or something. It really lessens the experience of eating there.

I think you should have your sinuses checked. I have been there so many times and never have I smelled anything other than delicious food. My wife, who can smell mold a mile away, would never eat a Coquette if that were the case.

A visit to the ENT is in order.

Well, a moldy musty smell is what was being mentioned.

How many times have you dined at Coquette, if I might ask?

Once...Jazz Fest last year.

Wasn't a fan, but not because of the smell.

Unfortunate...was the restaurant I was most looking forward to dining at that weekend.

But I fail to see how that has anything to do with the seal of approval from your wife's nose.

The guy smelled something, he smelled something. Move on.

Great place. It reminds me of a scaled down version of La Petite Grocery down the street which is another one of our favorites. Last time we went to Coquette all the tables were taken so we ate at the bar. The bartender took extra good care of us by pouring some very good wines. Fresh fish dishes such as red snapper and pompano were especially good. Can't wait to go back.
