Just wanted to share something I enjoy and spark some conversation. How many of you enjoy cooking on site, no kitchen, just what you bring and no store if you forget something? I can do some damn fine cooking under these circumstances and enjoy it so much more than being inside. The challenge and difficulty excite me.

Go to dishes in this scenario? What y'all got??

Pop Tart held in front of the heater vent of my truck. Drive for 20 minutes until thoroughly warmed.

Marvelous.

You can also do that, if not in vehicle, by placing said Pop Tart between the cheeks of your arse in less the time.

Not when I'm driving

Truth in posting time.

I just eat them straight from the package.

To help you out. Did you know you can fry bacon over a campfire in a paper bag.

Snow Caps and popcorn in the theater.
Put a couple of Snow Caps in your hand with the popcorn, mix it up in your mouth while you chew.

Enjoy. Merry Christmas.

Is this how you make yourself feel better about not having a nicer camp? Being forced to lug an igloo cooler and use a fire ?

For what its worth, our camp stove broke and had a fricking raccoon living in the fridge.

My camp has a Kitchen.

I cook at a lot of big parties, like under a tree.

When it comes to camping, you can really do almost anything in a dutch oven.

If you mean living somewhere without a kitchen, I was the master of this in college. I had a mini-fridge, a sandwich press, a microwave, and a toaster.

My favorite meal to make was called the cajun melt

I would get locally sourced sliced bread (best for this sandwich is the Italian Veggie Herb from "Our Daily Bread")
apply sweet relish, honey mustard, and just a dab of italian dressing as the condiments.
and use thin-sliced hogs head cheese and shredded cajun turkey as the deli meat with pepperjack cheese
I would then slice creole tomatoes on top and put the whole thing in the sandwich press.

Hogs head cheese melts under heat and creates a sticky, runny, gooey mess, but with a sandwich press, all of that gets trapped inside the toasted bread.
The heat from the hogs head cheese, cajun turkey, and pepperjack cheese pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the sweet relish and honey mustard, which also counters the sodium.

I highly recommend trying this even if you do have a kitchen

Electric skillet can do almost anything, and it's their electricity instead of my propane.

I typically cook in large cast iron Dutch Ovens or Gumbo Pots over propane, but I do like cooking in a small Cajun Microwave also.

Does an open pit fire count?

Nope. By definition, that qualifies as a kitchen.
