How do you go about cleaning this? I know you aren't supposed to use soap, but after many uses there is so much build up. Do you scrub it down then reseason it? Thanks.

While very hot, deglaze it under running water, then lightly scub. Wipe dry with a paper towel and heat it on the stove top to ensure proper drying....your done.

You can use soap. Modern dish soap is perfectly safe on cast iron.

ETA: Though a little fat and some salt is usually all you need.

A handful of kosher salt and paper towels. Usually helps if the skillet is a little warm.

I use one of those cast iron cleaning chains. Works well.

Put it in the oven on around 225-250. Let it get warmed up and then scrub with paper towels or steel wool. If there is build up you are using it wrong. After every use, while still warm, you will need to rinse it with hot water, wipe it out, and stick it either on the stove or back in the oven to dry. Maybe a light coat of oil if it needs it.

Fat, salt and a little scrubbing should do the trick!

Exactly how I clean my cookware

Also, once clean and dry, add a several drops of cooking oil to the cast iron pot. Wipe inside of pot with dry paper towel and oil to prevent rust.

This is what you use. No soap, some hot water. Season the skillet every now and then.

Brgetthenet is correct, after cleaning put back on the stove and heat up again to fully dry it, then a very light coat of mineral oil while it is still warm, mineral oil will never go rancid

I use this same chain net thing with only water for nonenameled. If stuff is more stuck, hot water or putting with water on heated stove and scrubbing there works as well. It's iron so always dry it manually. I use paper towels.

If enameled I clean the same as any other pot/pan with soap.
