Not to sound like too much of a tightass, but this is our first full summer of owning a pool. Looks like we'll have plenty of 10-15 people pool parties throughout the summer. Every one is ok bringing snacks, drinks, or chipping in, but sometimes it's easier just having ingredients on hand for a small group meal. Any ideas are appreciated. I enjoy cooking and entertaining, so the cooking part isn't a hassle.

Chilidogs and beer. If anyone complains send them home. It's a pool party, not an engagement party.

Buy some things in bulk like hamburger meat, hot dogs, sausage, chicken and the like. Watch for the sales on those things and ribs, pork butt/shoulder etc...

Not sure what type of foods you're looking for, but all of the above works for grilling which people are usually doing poolside.

A big pork butt, smoke it, put it in the oven, crock pot it, doesn't matter. You can eat it as is, do pulled pork tacos or sandwiches, BBQ flavors, Mexican flavors, just a very versatile piece of meat that will go a long way

Two big large chickens from SAMs or Costco are about ten bucks. 4 chickens will feed 10-15. Whole pork loins boneless are about 17 bucks and will feed an army. Cut them into chops or small roasts and freeze.

Chicken livers are cheap and butter and make pate. I do this all the time and non liver eaters eat it. Hearts and gizzards on the grill make a good appetizer for organ eaters and are cheap.

Keep dried Lima beans and make a pot to go as a side. Or buy fresh and are cheap.

Keep a few cheeses and nuts for snacks.

Pork butt and whole chickens are the best combinations of value, taste and flexibility. For $10-$15 worth of meat, you can feed a bunch of people.

Hot dogs, burgers, a jam, spaghetti, smoke a butt, chicken wings, leg quarters, pork steaks (the ultimate in cheap, but if done right awesome).

Always have sausage and boudin for the pit. Make jalapeño poppers for pretty cheap as well..

Mac and cheese for a side or slaw.
