They'll be weeping in their bread sticks and cheese biscuits. Could the never ending pasta bowl cease? Can Applebee's and Joe's Crab Shack handle the chain zombies as they wander the streets in search of blandness?

In short, their dough ain't rising.

Olive Garden is ok..just ok. Red Lobster is terrible. People in Alabama think that is a nice restaurant too.

Perhaps Americans are finally starting wise up to these chain restaurants shenanigans. Serving absolute shite to your customers and calling it food can't last forever.

Oh for tender mercies, please make this so.
Maybe they stumbled into a real seafood restaurant, place that served authentic Tuscan cuisine, or just a place that served actual food that they cooked and had an epicurian epiphany.
I don't know R2R... Some people learn real slow, and others just don't care one bit. It's going to take a while to get it for many I'm afraid.

When I am down at the beach and see a full parking lot at Red Lobster, I die a little inside.

From the comments
Right. Olive Garden has fine dining prices

It's the price! The food at both Olive Garden and Red Lobster are pretty good but over priced for today's market. Everyone wants locally sourced ingredients and unique dishes. Darden is charging fine dining prices and they just aren't on that level for most people anymore. This is the post foodie revolution era. I do think they can fill the upscale chain niche well if they come down a bit in price.

You guys are haters. I like OG and RL.
I still maintain that if you were served an above average dish from these restaurants at a local restaurant you would be saying "omg this is so much better!"

Oh, I agree to an extent (never had RL so can't comment)
I'm just pointing out that it's absurd to say that the price point of Olive Garden is comparable to fine dining.
Olive Garden isn't expensive. Particularly for lunch.

That $6.99 for all you can eat salad and bread sticks is breaking the bank!

Few here will admit it but the soups are pretty good

They need newer, fancier microwaves.

You get a lot of food for a relatively low price. Of course the food isn't as good as most local places but it serves a purpose. Not everyone is OT rich and can afford Jubans.

Olive Garden is the go to restaurant for a Foodie to hate to prove that he is hip. Anybody can hate a terrible restaurant, that's too easy. Hating an above average chain is way cooler.
I have never had the urge to try Red Lobster so I can't comment on it. Too many good seafood restaurants for me to have any desire to give it a shot.

Extreme much? So theres no place with a price point between the two?
Og is nasty. I dont care how much food they give you, its still shitty food.

Perhaps what we consider above average dishes isn't always the same, regardless of smoke, mirrors, or the name on the front of the restaurant.

The "problem" is that there are just as many crappy local places as there are crappy chains.
So at least with a chain you know what you are getting even if it is mediocre.
