My goddaughter is a budding candy and cake making enthusiast. Her Christmas Wish List this year is for candy and cake making tools. What would the Food Board suggest for tools and or places to purchase such items? Thanks for the help.

Cake stand, cake pans, springform pan, nice set of spatulas, piping bags and different tips, nice apron etc.

Go check out Williams Sonoma, Sur La Table, Crate and Barrel, Target etc.

Sur La Table's selection is far better than W-S. Don't overlook Michael's Crafts and Wal-Mart...if she needs basic supplies, both stores carry Wilton couplers, bags, tips, and premade icing (for practice). Restaurant supply stores are a good source of the larger couplers & tips, as well as good reusable pastry bags and larger disposable bags (sold in a roll for far cheaper than the Wilton smaller versions).

If she already has the basics, try IndiaTree.com for fancy decorating sugars (colors, sparkling sugars, dragees, demerara, etc) or Fantes.com for an astounding array of technical cooking gear. Everything from marble candymaking slabs to rolling pins to cookie stamps and so much more. Fantes has good customer service, too.
