My wife is getting back from a funeral about 10 tonight so I wanted to have a couple light appetizers and maybe some wine to help her wind down.

I picked up some honey goat cheese and raisin Rosemary crackers at trader's but wanted something else to go along with that.

Thanks!

Get some chips and queso. White women love that. Velvet cactus has a nice dip trio app

I'm holding a box of wild caught crab meat. Anything simple I can make with that?

West Indies salad

1 medium onion, chopped fine
1 lb fresh lump crabmeat
4 ounces Wesson Oil
3 ounces cider vinegar
4 ounces ice water (as cold as you can get it)
salt and pepper

Directions
Follow these instructions to the letter!
Spread half of onion over bottom of large bowl.
Cover with separated crab lumps.
Add the remaining onion.
Salt and pepper.
Pour oil, vinegar and ice water over all.
Cover and marinate 2-12 hours.
Toss lightly before serving.
Serve as a"salad" on a bed of lettuce or on crackers as an appetizer.

It's hard to beat pigs in a blanket for a simple comfort food appetizer...

Smoked salmon on crackers with cheese is a go-to for me, and it's super simple.

Make her a hot fudge sundae, with nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry. You never know what's going to happen when you break out the whipped cream...

West Indies is simple but great, get on it now so it will be good and cold by 10:00, and even better tomorrow for leftovers

Sure just something non reactive

Use corn oil if you have it, if not a mild vegetable oil, stay away from olive oil, and make sure your water is ice cold

Second West Indies. Best when it's very cold and made the day before, but it will be good enough if made now.

If you have a ripe avocado, some slices will go nicely with it over a little choppped lettuce.

Ok how bad did I butcher this? I cut everything in half because I realized after getting home I only bought 8oz of crab meat.

Poured ice water from pyrex measuring cup into the other glass first.

Looks fine, just lightly toss before serving, maybe drain off a little liquid before serving
