Brunch is one of the most overrated concepts.

I have never understood brunch at restaurants: wait around for two hours so you can spend $25/head on chicken and waffles. Even worse is when restaurants won't serve lunch until after their "brunch period".

I just don't get it. Why do people pack into restaurants for this stuff on weekends when you can make eggs and such at home for a fraction of the cost?

Other restaurant dishes are often unique and merit the trip, but brunch simply isn't one of those.

Also, as a side note, has anyone ever noticed that restaurants dedicated to breakfast/brunch tend to attract the roughest crowds?

Agree. Never been a fan of brunch.

You will get hated on with people saying dude you get drunk and eat bacon! Cool, I can get shithammered at lunch eating regular food and not spruced up eggs 10 ways while drinking flavored oj.

Paid $16 for my chicken and waffles with delicious bourbon bacon jam today. Flight of mimosas was tasty. Lunch is also served along with brunch options. Had a reservation so no waiting.

You can say this about any restaurant meal. People enjoy the dining experience. Dining is an event to be enjoyed.

I’ve never had to wait for two hours to eat anywhere in my entire life

Do you ever go out to eat anywhere at any time? Because you can say that same exact phrase for going to eat anywhere.

You’re going to th wrong places then.

And I don’t ever do brunch.

But you got a whole lotta fail in this post.

I mean sure spruced up eggs are on a brunch menu. How many people can make poached eggs well at home?

I’m sure there are some items that may be worth an occasional brunch trip for some people?

The same way you say it’s not worth it to get spruced up eggs at brunch, others can say it’s not worth it just to go get “regular food” that you can easily make at home.

And again, I agree with you about not going out to brunch. I don’t do it. But I guess I can see why others like it.

The last brunch I went to had made to order omelets and waffles, all the standard breakfast foods and prime rib, chicken, pasta, dinner sides, etc.

Maybe you're going to the wrong place?

how often is this a problem for you? most restaurants don't even offer a brunch menu, and for those that do, it's at most twice a week and often only once.

If you ever find yourself in Asheville, NC on a Sunday, go have brunch at the Grove Park Inn and you'll probably change your mind about brunch.

I've been to some incredible meals at all times of the day. Whether you like the concept of brunch, prefer to eat a lunch or want the experience of a great dinner, dining out is an event. It's not just about the food. It's about the atmosphere, the experience and who you share it with. More to it than just the price of the meal and how long you have to wait. But each is only prepared to pay a certain price in terms of what they spend in dollars or hours. Sure you can cook at home and there is a certain reward (and savings) associated with that choice. You can watch a football game or movie at home too. Some prefer the couch over being there in the moment. The reason why people go to brunch, a fancy dinner or a sporting event, pay higher prices and wait a long time to do so is simply that it's something they personally enjoy and they feel the cost is worth the experience. I would also suggest that if you don't understand the brunch experience then you may not have been to the right brunch. I've been to some amazing places and had some great meals in some fantastic settings. Life is a bigger experience than what you find inside your four walls.

Keep searching my friend.

Or you can always fry up some eggs and bacon at home and catch a little sports center.
