Delpit's is the answer and it's pretty good chicken, but honestly BR is a desert for quality fried chicken.

My new favorite, after only two experiences, is the Winn Dixie on Coursey Blvd. Frankly, I was very surprised and pleased by the quality and taste. Plus it's cheap, especially if you have a store card.

Chicken Shack. I've often tooted their horn. They are good. BUT, they aren't always consistently good. Quite often their chicken will be overcooked, like 30% of the time I go there. That's really my only bitch about them. But the price is low enough that I don't sweat it too much when it happens.

I like Pick a Pack in Port Allen and the chicken is best on Monday when the grease is fresh. By mid to later in the week, the grease is old and the chicken tastes and looks burnt.

A Chic-A-Dilly or Southern Classic would kill it.

There was a restaurant in South Gate towers a few years back that had pretty good fried chicken from what I remember. I'm not sure if it's still open; it was name after some coonass.

Soon it will be the Browns fried chicken on Siegen Lane. It'll be going under the name Famous K&C. Can't beat it.

I remember that place, but I forget the name... I thought that the chicken there sucked.

No. It wasn't Couyon's, that's a BBQ place if I'm not mistaking. This place was someone's last name and served good ole soul food.

Yeah, Leroys. That place sucked.

If you want legit soul food go to Dorothy's or Cafe Express

Hannah Q BBQ in Prairieville has great fried chicken. Huge breasts. Extra crispy. Stockyard is solid too. Chicken shack isn't my favorite but it could be the people staring at me while they suck on a bone.

Got chicken from there, it was so greasy it actually feel through the paper bag they served it in. Luckily the paper bag was inside of a plastic bag. Chicken wasn't anything to scream about.
