Small batch, made of 4 bourbons. Worst of the 94 proofs IMO. Jefferson's is 94 proof as well and SO much smoother

Good list. Was the 4 Roses the regular, small batch or single barrel. The single barrel is really good and strong and would rank in the top 3 of those bourbons in my opinion.

Agreed. I actually prefer the 4 roses single barrel to Blanton's (although both are excellent). In fact, it's my favorite bourbon in that general price range. I still haven't tried the Jefferson Presidential Select, but I think it'll be the next "high end" purchase I make (particularly since I haven't been able to find another bottle of the 20 yr. PVW).

You should like it. I taste tested it side by side with PVW 15 and PVW 20. Definitely better than the 15 and just not quite as refined and smooth as the 20, but still a damn fine bourbon.

I think your list is right about on...though the price range is almost high to low going down that list...

The Jefferson Presidential Select is fantastic...I agree with Beardface, just below PVW 20. Incredibly smooth, absent of that little bit of extra bite that PVW 23 has (which is what I'm sipping on right now, actually )

Blanton's has been my go-to rocks whiskey for a few years. Though a little harder on the pocket than the rest listed below, it's just a notch or two below the JPS...

Basil's is an underrated spirit to me...I prefer this over Knob, Woodford, Maker's, and most others in that category. Occasionally, when I'm ready to tie one off and cut loose, I'll crave the harshness of Booker's, but it's a few more bucks, too.

My bottle of Bulleit just won't seem to empty (not that that's a bad thing!) I enjoy it, but it's missing something...always do that with some water it seems.

Haven't had the Kentucky Spirit, though I'm sure it's similar to Turkey with a crisper finish.

I can't get into Four Roses...had a bottle of the Small Batch last year and for some reason I got stomach aches whenever I had it. Tried the single barrel once, and would just prefer Eagle Rare's single barrel over that.

1792 is okay, but not in the class of the bourbons you listed above.

A bourbon tasting night is a great idea, but I think I'd have the same problem as you: the lack of an objective judgement due to an extreme enjoyment of libations...

ETA: Now you guys have me getting a finger or two from my bottle of Jefferson Presidential.... jerks!
